Some of the Irish Senior team went to a training camp in preparation for the upcoming European Senior Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria. They went to INSEP, (the National Institute of Sport, Expertise, and Performance) in Paris, France. After some social media postings by INSEP, some of the Irish Senior team were invited & able to visit the Irish Embassy in Paris – a great honour.

Hannah Crymble (-59kg), Seán Brown (-89kg/Board Member) and Beáta Jung (Team Coach), visited the Irish Embassy in Paris to meet Ambassador Niall Burgess. They also met Deputy Ambassador Owen Feeney, who is managing the Irish Olympic/Paralympic project for the upcoming games. Ambassador Niall Burgess and Deputy Ambassador Owen Feeney, both took great interest in the sport of weightlifting! Keen to learn more about our sport in Ireland and abroad.

Tham Nguyen (-49kg), Mark Gough (Team Physical Therapist) & Mohd Faizal Baharom (Team Coach) couldn’t make it for the visit. They had already set of to Bulgaria, the day prior, for the European Senior Championships.

We would like to thank the Irish Embassy for inviting our team in Paris and for connecting us with the Irish Ambassador in Sofia, Bulgaria.
