Weightlifting Ireland in partnership with Sport Ireland Anti-Doping is committed to ensuring weightlifting is a clean sport. Sport Ireland Anti-Doping is the National Anti-Doping organisation whose function includes the implementation of guidelines, codes of practice, standards of good conduct, fair play and the elimination of doping in sport.
We recognise that our membership is growing, with athletes taking their first steps onto the pathway to International representation.  Weightlifting Ireland is dedicated to supporting our athletes on this pathway and providing education to support them through the process.  It is highlighted that Anti-Doping does not just concern competitions (National or International) but should be a day to day consideration for all.
Our Anti-Doping Officer, Lucy Moore-Fox, will be hosting an online Anti-Doping presentation on Tuesday 13th February 2024 at 8:30pm.  This presentation is for MASTERS athletes (35 years old & above), parents and coaches. If you are an athlete who has been aspirations of competing internationally, we would encourage full attendance.
Lucy welcomes any questions on Anti-Doping, but if you can forward them in advance by Monday 12th February, it would be greatly appreciated.  If you do not wish for your question to be discussed at the presentation, or think of any afterwards, they will also provide their contact details. You can email her here : [ [email protected] ]
The seminar will cover:
  1. An introduction to the anti-doping rules.
  2. The WADA 2024 Prohibited list.
  3. Use of Over the Counter (OTC) and prescriptions medications.
  4. TUEs

⚠️ This seminar is especially pertinent to active athletes, particularly those who want to compete internationally in 2023.
⚠️ An active membership for 2024 is required to register for this event.
