Weightlifting Ireland is delighted to announce that eighteen (18) athletes have been selected to represent Ireland at the upcoming Celtic Nations Championships. The team is made up of nine (9) female athletes, nine (9) male athletes and three (3) coaches. Athletes have been selected from three (3) different age brackets : Seniors, Juniors& Youths.
Coaches selected for the event will be Claire McLarnon, Isla Hoe and Roland Korom.
This event will take place in Dundee – Scotland. Competition date is October, 15th – 2022.
WI used the following selection criteria based on the rankings from the 4th of September – 2022 :
Highest Ranked Athletes from the : “Irish Youth Men/Women (13-17 yrs of age)”
Highest Ranked Athletes from the : “Irish Junior Men/Women (15-20 yrs of age)”
Highest Ranked Athletes from the : “All Irish Men/Women”
*(excluding athletes who have competed in any major international competition; namely European Championships (Senior/U23/Junior/Youth) standard or above within the last year, or are being considered/selected for the 2022 World Senior Championships).
