Dear fellow members,
This coming May (12th-20th) Ireland will host the 2023 European Masters Championships (EMC), the biggest event of its kind for this island. This year will also see a record number of lifters compete. Everyone, it seems, wants to experience the world famous hospitality Ireland has to offer. One thousand athletes compete on two platforms in the SETU Arena in Waterford. It will be a memorable event for all our athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers.
Weightlifting Ireland (WI) wants this to be a competition for all our members. For some of you this year the qualifying total may not have been achievable however, we still wish you to be part of our team. We are also calling on our wonderful clubs, let’s bring your club together and have a club volunteer day. Showcase your club, let the world know how you support your federation. We have roles for everyone, support teams, accreditation, loaders, drivers, personnel for training and food halls.
With such a large programme over nine days don’t feel that if you can only give one day you won’t make a difference. Every effort we can collectively make to ensure this is a great experience for all will be cemented by the efforts of you, our wonderful volunteers and members.
