We appreciate and understand that this is a difficult time for all coaches & athletes. Our priority is your safety and wellbeing. Weightlifting Ireland (WI) remains fully compliant with all Department of Health and HSE recommendations around Covid-19.
Weightlifting Ireland is working closely with Sport Ireland and as soon as we have further clarity on when national competitions are possible, we will inform members immediately. As a result, when we return to competition only registered coaches will be allowed to enter the warm up area with their athletes.
Minimum Requirements:
1). Active Membership for 2021 & Level 1 Coaching Certificate
2). Attendance at a 2021 CPD One Day Workshop @ W.I. National Training Venue / WIT Arena, Co. Waterford
(Coaches who attended the 2020 CPD Workshops and Coaches who received their certificates in 2019/2020 are exempt)
3). Sport Ireland Anti-Doping Online Education
4). Sport Ireland COVID-19 E-learning Awareness Course

Important Information:
1). Garda Vetting / (every 3 years – mandatory)
2). Safeguarding / (every 3 years – Sport Ireland recommended best practice)
*Each of the years in between, attend the online Sport Ireland Safeguarding Update (30 minutes)
3). a). 2021 Current Member
b). Level 1 – Minimum Standard
c). CPD Workshop @ WIT Arena (one day CPD course to attend within 3 weeks of the “Return to Train” plan / subject to a minimum of 10 persons) / (coaches who attended CPD workshop in 2020 or who qualified in 2019/2020 are exempt until 2022).
d). 1st Aid Certificate – (to be introduced when we return to training in 2021).
4). Competition details for following the “Return to Train” phase can be found on our website.
5). Athlete and Coaches Pathways available on website (check under Policies page HERE)
6). New Level 2 – QQI / (Sport Ireland final submission review stage in process).
7). National Offices and the National Competition/Training Centre @ WIT Sport Arena, Co. Waterford.
8). National Championships Weekend to take place in the Arena later this year (subject to COVID restrictions) .
