Club Application Information
Welcome to the Weightlifting Ireland 2021 Club Registration
We’d like to welcome all NEW & RETURNING clubs for 2021! Below you’ll find the NEW Weightlifting Ireland Club Level structure;
Level 1 Club – Entry Level
- This will help your club achieve governance and best practice.
- This level is about learning the fundamentals and the “Learn to Train” stage of our Long-Term Athlete Development Pathway (LTADP).
- Minimum standard for the Coach is Level 1.
- Once this level is reached, you will receive the Weightlifting Ireland Club Registration.
*All clubs who join in 2021 will start at this level; Level 1 Club – Entry Level. Please upload as many of the documents that relate to your club and that you currently have available. Please, don’t worry if you do not have all the documentation at the moment, you will be on the journey and we will offer support.

Level 2 Club – Club Training Venue
- This is about club structure and development.
- This level is about implementing plans and engaging with Weightlifting Ireland initiatives and practices, working within the “Training to Train” and “Learn to Compete” stage of our LTADP.
- Minimum standard for the Coach is Level 1 Licensed & the Head Coach to be on the Level 2 pathway or Licensed.
- Once this level is reached and targets are achieved, the club will receive the Weightlifting Ireland Club Bronze Award. / 🥉

Level 3 Club – Provincial Training Venue
- This level will focus on strategic planning and athlete/coach development.
- This level is about implementing Weightlifting Ireland agreed programs for identified athletes and engaging with Weightlifting Ireland initiatives and practices over 1 – 2 years.
- Both athletes and coaches will focus on the “Training to Compete” and “Learning to Win” stage of our LTADP.
- Designated lifting platforms and IWF approved training bars and plates are required.
- Level 3 Clubs will promote and support Provincial and National events.
- Minimum standard for the Coach is Level 2 Licensed & the Head Coach to be on the Level 3 pathway or Licensed.
- Once this level is reached and targets are achieved the club and facility will receive the Weightlifting Ireland Club Silver Award. / 🥈

Level 4 Club – National Training Venue
- This level is about implementing plans and engaging with all levels of Weightlifting Ireland programming, initiatives, and practices over 1 – 4 years.
- IWF competition / training equipment and platforms to be available for use.
- When this level is reached, and targets achieved the club and facility will receive the Weightlifting Ireland Club Gold Award. / 🥇

*[Subject to conditions and approval in writing, Weightlifting Ireland may grant an exemption for a sanctioned training or competition event to take place in a Level 2 Club – Club Training Venue].
