Team Ireland’s final video from the European Senior Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia. Amy Laffan (69kg) had a strong debut at the European Senior Championships.

Setting a new Irish record in the snatch on her second attempt with 72kg, and coming agonisingly (literally) close with 74kg on her third attempt.

Despite some quite serious shoulder discomfort, she made 81kg in her Clean & Jerk. Cork Weightlifting Club’s Sarah Cahill had a great start in the Snatch, making 68kg and 71kg. She was very unfortunate in her Clean & Jerk – she cleaned 84kg three times, but blacked out on each occasion.

Eoin Murphy (105kg) had one of the standout performances of the competition – despite weighing in at 3.30am Irish time and lifting at 5.30am Irish time, he made 6/6 of his attempts and made an Irish record of 166kg on his final Clean & Jerk.

We’re proud of the performances of each and every team member on this trip – there were incredibly gutsy performances from each and every lifter, a great team dynamic and more national records or record equaling performances than *ever* before.
